It's the ticketed music event that sits inside Whitby's much bigger goth-weekend tradition — not a street fair, an actual curated lineup. The 2026 booking is a genuine coup: The Mission headline both Friday and Saturday with entirely different material each night, described as their first UK shows since 2024. Friday also brings Lol Tolhurst performing songs of The Cure, joined by his son Gray on guitar. Saturday adds a guest appearance from The March Violets, plus sets from Evi Vine and Tristwch Y Fenywod.

What to Expect

Two headline sets from the same band, played differently on purpose, is the whole point of this booking — go both nights if you can. Around the main stage, Carpe Noctum (the biggest and longest-running goth club night in the north of England) runs the after-hours side of things, and the town itself does the rest: gothic and alternative markets, and an abbey that's had genuine Dracula literary connections since Bram Stoker used it as a setting. This isn't a festival you attend and then leave town — Whitby becomes part of the show.

What to Wear

Full Victorian coats and corsetry are completely normal here, not costume — this is one weekend where going all-in is the baseline, not the exception. Underneath the theatre, though, it's late October on an exposed coast: a proper coat, boots that handle cobbles and sea spray, and layers that survive both an outdoor abbey walk and a packed indoor stage.
